How this card plays

Legal in Pioneer since this spring's Universes Beyond release, and so far it has yet to register in any tracked tournament list. The honest read is structural: the engine Leonardo wants does not have a home on the current archetype map.

The recursion clause asks for a graveyard packed with one-power-or-less creatures (mana dorks, sacrifice fodder, aristocrat triggers, hatebears), and a double-striking body to convert that value into a clock. Pioneer's white-based decks do not build that way. Mono-White Humans and Azorius Spirits run aggressive curves with bodies well above the toughness floor, and neither wants a four-mana legend that does nothing the turn it lands. The aristocrats pieces that would feed Leonardo (the sacrifice loops, the death-trigger payoffs) live in black, and Pioneer has no Orzhov or Mardu sacrifice shell that has put up results to graft this onto.

The finality counter is the part that makes the card honest and also the part that makes it hard to abuse: each recursion is one-shot, so there is no loop to break, only a toolbox to dip into once. That is a fair rate, not a format-warping one, and fair rates need an existing deck to slot into rather than a deck built around them.

There is no active slot competition to name, because there is no list running the role. Sun Titan already occupies white's recursion niche in the decks that want it, and it asks far less of the graveyard. Leonardo needs an aristocrats-adjacent white shell that Pioneer's metagame has not produced.

Sneak 2 generic manaWhite manaWhite mana Double strike During your turn, you may cast creature spells with power or toughness 1 or less from your graveyard. If you cast a spell this way, that creature enters with a finality counter on it. (If a creature with a finality counter on it would die, exile it instead.)
