Legal since its March 2026 release, and effectively absent from competitive Standard this season. The card surfaces in tracked play only as an isolated one-of, which is to say it has no archetype carrying it.

The reason is structural, not a matter of the engine being weak. Leonardo wants a graveyard stocked with creatures of power or toughness 1 or less: mana dorks, sacrifice fodder, recurring aristocrat bodies. That is a build-around, and Standard's white pool right now does not supply enough cheap creatures that both want to die and want to come back to justify a four-mana enabler that only goes online once you have done the setup work. The double strike means the body is never a dead draw, but a 3/3 for four that needs a graveyard full of one-toughness creatures to function is asking the format to slow down around it. The aggressive decks defining the season do not. Sneak offers a second route onto the board, but the double-white-and-two requirement is steeper than the cast cost, not a discount, so it does not solve the tempo problem. The pieces for a white aristocrats engine exist in the abstract; they have not coalesced into a deck a tournament pilot trusts.

The card stays Standard-legal until the fall 2026 rotation cycle, with the exact date pending Wizards' announcement, so it has time on the calendar if a payoff or a critical mass of cheap recursion targets arrives in an intervening set. Nothing on the announced schedule obviously builds the toolbox it needs. Until something does, the engine sits idle.
