Strax, Sontaran Nurse
Random-target fight is a chaos mechanic bolted onto a value engine, and the tension between those two impulses is the whole design. The Grenades! ability sacrifices an artifact to fight a creature, but it does not let you pick the victim's owner: it chooses a player at random, then Strax fights any creature that player controls. In a multiplayer pod this is genuinely a gamble, a battle-medic who lobs a grenade and lets fate decide who catches it. What redeems the randomness is Glory of Battle: every time Strax connects with a creature, it grows, so a repeatable fight outlet on a trampling, vigilant 5/5 turns each activation into both a removal spell and a permanent buff. Feed it artifact tokens (Treasure, Clues, anything expendable) and the fight ability compounds, each grenade making the next fight more lethal and every combat step more punishing. The card wants an artifact-heavy board that can afford to keep throwing pieces into the incinerator, and it rewards that investment with a creature that both trades up and refuses to stay the same size. It is a rare fight-based commander built to grind rather than to combo, where the "downside" of random targeting is priced against an engine that only ever moves in one direction: bigger.
