Setzer, Wandering Gambler

Coin flips have always been the game's flirtation with variance, and most designs that lean on them treat the randomness as the payoff: a fifty-fifty on a spell, a Krark's Thumb build, a joke that occasionally wins. This one wires the coin into a repeatable engine instead. The trigger isn't the flip but Vehicle combat damage, which means flips only happen after you've resolved the hard part: getting The Blackjack (or any other Vehicle) crewed and connecting. For The Blackjack itself, that connection can't happen the turn Setzer lands: neither the 3/3 flier nor its owner has haste, so the token stays cold until the following combat, when it can finally crew up and swing. Win the flip and you bank two tapped Treasures, which is less about raw mana than about the sacrifice fodder and artifact count a Rakdos build actually wants. The structure rewards going wide on Vehicles rather than doubling down on flip-manipulation, because every attacker that gets through is another flip, and every flip is another swing at the Treasure faucet. Krark's Thumb and similar effects turn the variance into near-certainty, but the design doesn't require them; it's built to profit at even odds and just gets gaudier when you tilt the coin. The gambler's-engine framing keeps it a step removed from the usual coin-flip curio: the randomness isn't the reward, it's the interest a Vehicle collects on damage it has already landed.
