Functionally Scoured Barrens. In Commander the gain-lands are the floor of acceptable fixing: they fix two colors at common rate, gain a point that mostly does not matter, and cost you a tapped land you feel most in the opening turns of a long game. Nothing here moves that read. The deck that runs the cycle runs this; it adds a copy to the Orzhov fixing pool and nothing else.

The strictly-worse framing is worth saying plainly: in a hundred-card singleton format you are not choosing between two copies of the same gain-land, you are choosing whether the gain-land clears the bar over the next dual in the queue. It usually does in three-plus-color builds hungry for any untapped-eventually fixing, and it usually does not in a tuned two-color list that would rather run Godless Shrine, Caves of Koilos, or a fast-land. The life trigger earns its keep only in the lifegain-payoff shells the original was always good in, and that home carries over unchanged.
