TMT's removal suite gives this a friendly ceiling. The common answers (Stomped by the Foot, Grounded for Life, Bot Bashing Time) all trade one-for-one, and none of them exile: once the artifact reaches the graveyard, the death trigger fires and you draw. The opponent spends a card to kill a body that was always going to refund itself. That is the read that makes it a P1P5 to P1P8 maindeck pick for UR Sneak, where a turn-two flier buys the time the bigger threats need to land.

Where it earns the slot is the air war. The set runs 24 fliers across the commons and uncommons, and a vigilant blocker that holds the skies, swings into open sky once the ground stalls, and replaces itself on the way out covers exactly the job blue's two-drop slot needs in a medium-speed format. It contests opposing fliers without ever handing over a clean answer.

The friction is the Sneak overlap. Buzz Bots wants the board to stall so its lone point of power eventually matters; an aggressive UR build wants tempo trades and unblocked damage, not a 1/1 holding serve. In that shell it is an underwhelming two-drop, a body that blocks but never threatens. It reads better in GU goodstuff, where boards gum up naturally and a self-replacing flier keeps the air contested while the heavier creatures take the game over. Maindeck it in any blue deck not built on raw damage; nudge it toward the sideboard band only when you draft Sneak on the high side and every card in hand has to push damage.

Filler in the ninety-nine for blue decks that want a cheap evasive body and do not mind it dying, but a 1/1 flier and a single card off death is not a Commander rate. The card advantage is too small to matter at this table size and the body blocks nothing that flies for real. Cuts to almost any two-drop that actually does something: a real mana rock, a tutor, or a flier that draws more than one card when it leaves. Keep it only if you are early into a precon upgrade and have nothing better in the box yet.

A two-mana evasive blue body of the kind every blue deck in Modern has had access to since Wind Drake, now with vigilance and a death-cantrip stapled on. The format has no use for a 1/1 flier that wins no race and trades down in any combat: blue decks here are built around interaction and threats that actually close, not value commons. Legal, but it has yet to register in tracked tournament play, and there is no archetype that asks for it. The kind of card you draft in Limited and never sleeve in Modern.

Legal since its March 2026 release, but yet to register in any tracked Standard deck this season. The structural read explains why. A 1/1 flier, even one with vigilance and a death-cantrip, sits in the slot blue's two-drops are already crowded out of. Current Standard's blue decks are not short on card advantage or evasive bodies, and a defensive one-power flier that threatens nothing in a race asks the format to slow down enough for its incremental value to matter. The cantrip makes the trade a wash rather than a blowout, which is exactly the problem at the competitive level: a wash is not a reason to register a card. It does nothing the format's blue shells cannot already do with cards that pull more weight per slot.

This is the kind of card that finds a home when a payoff prints, not when the metagame shifts. A sacrifice outlet that turns the death-trigger into a repeatable engine, or an aggressive flyers shell that wants cheap evasion stapled to insurance, would change the math. Nothing on the announced schedule points that way yet.

Buzz Bots rotates in the fall of 2027 with its March 2026 parent block, exact date pending Wizards' announcement. That leaves a long runway by Standard's clock, more than a year, but a runway only matters if something arrives to walk it. Barring a future printing that gives the death-trigger a reason to repeat, the card spends that window where it is now: legal, available, and unregistered.

A 2-mana 1/1 flier with vigilance that replaces itself when it dies. The death-cantrip is the entire pitch: the card is meant to be traded or burned away, and you get reimbursed when it happens. The trouble is what the body asks for. Spellstutter Sprite is also a flier, but it brings a counter stapled to the body; Faerie Seer scries on the way in for a single mana. Buzz Bots spends two on a 1/1 whose only job is to die well.

Pauper's blue decks have settled their two-drop slots, and none of them settled on this. Faeries wants the Spellstutter package, where the body is incidental to the counter. UR Delver wants threats with reach and a cantrip attached, not a one-power flier that dies to every red removal spell in the format and threatens nothing in a race. A one-power clock is not one the format respects, and blue already draws its cards more efficiently through Mulldrifter and the rest of its suite. The vigilance reads as upside more than function on a body this soft.

Legal, but yet to register in tracked tournament play this season. The rate is honest and the design is clean. The format just does not have an open blue tempo slot that prefers evasive chip damage plus removal insurance over what the existing builds already run.
