Reanimation usually pays for its power by handing you the whole creature: abilities, evasion, back-half triggers, the works. This one inverts the deal. Every creature it hauls out of the graveyard comes back stripped, a vanilla Skeleton with a body but no text, so the reward is raw stats rather than a resurrected engine. That reshaping is what makes the repeatable tap worth printing: you cannot loop a titan for its enters-the-battlefield trigger or reanimate a combo piece for its ability, because the ability is gone the moment it hits the battlefield. What survives the transition is power, toughness, and creature type, which points the card toward big dumb beaters and toward decks that want raw bodies in play rather than value on a stick. The sorcery-speed clause keeps the reanimation itself off the instant-speed stack, keeping the loop honest as a grind engine instead of a surprise. Black recursion has spent its whole history hunting for the right price on a repeatable reanimator: some designs charge life, some exile the creature afterward, some cap the mana value it can bring back. Xu-Ifit charges the creature's identity, returning the shell and keeping the soul buried, which is a cleaner and more interesting brake than most.
