Wall of Omens

Creature — Wall1 generic manaWhite mana

The card that made defensive walls a tempo-positive play instead of a tempo-negative one. A 0/4 body stops most early aggression cold, but the entry trigger is the part that rewrote how white midrange treated its early turns: you stabilize the board and replace the card you spent doing it, so the wall never costs you a draw step. That refund is what separated it from the long line of pure speed bumps before it; a vanilla blocker trades down in cards even when it trades up in combat, and this one refuses to. The four toughness is doing precise work too, surviving the burn and the small attackers that would otherwise make the trigger feel like a one-shot cantrip on a body that dies immediately. The result is a card with no offensive ambitions whatsoever that still earns a slot in decks playing to win, because it buys time, buys a card, and asks nothing in return except that you not expect it to attack. Its closest spiritual sibling is Wall of Blossoms, the green version that came years earlier and proved the template; this one ported that idea into white and became the cleaner, more durable expression of it.
