Most lifegain attaches to a single moment (a creature dying, a spell resolving, an attack connecting); this one fires on every creature that enters, including itself, and pays out in toughness rather than a flat number. The choice of toughness over a fixed amount is where the whole design lives. A flat trigger rewards going wide with tokens; toughness-keyed lifegain rewards going tall, so the card slots most naturally into a deck full of fat green bodies whose defensive stats are usually the part nobody pays for. The 5/5 it brings to the table refunds five life the instant it arrives, and from then on it taxes the opponent's clock every time you develop a board. The ceiling gets genuinely silly alongside blink or reanimation effects, since each re-entry counts and a single big enough toughness can push a life total out of reach in one trigger. What keeps it in check is the price and the profile: seven mana for a 5/5 with no evasion and no immediate impact beyond the life means it is a cushion, not a threat. It does not close games by itself. It buys the time for your other threats to do that, which is exactly the assignment a top-end stabilizer in a creature-heavy green build exists to fill.
