Ulamog, the Defiler

Every prior Eldrazi titan was a fixed number: a static power and toughness, a known annihilator value, a mill count you could plan around. This one is a variable, and it fills its own tank on the way in. The cast trigger exiles the top half of a target opponent's library, and that exile pile is not incidental damage: it is the fuel. Ulamog enters with counters equal to the greatest mana value among cards in exile, so a single cast can rip a bomb out of an opponent's deck and staple its size onto the attacker. Because annihilator keys off those same counters, the body and the board-shredding both read one number, and that number is largely whatever the opponent was unlucky enough to have near the top. Older titans rewarded the caster with big uncounterable cast triggers; this one keeps that tradition and adds a feedback loop, turning the opponent's own high end into the measure of your threat. The Ward is the one piece that stays fixed: sacrifice two permanents, a flat tax rather than a scaling one, priced so that answering a huge Ulamog with removal still costs real board presence. Any friendly exile you have been stockpiling raises the ceiling further, but the card does not need you to build toward it; it manufactures its own ammunition and scales to a game state it partly creates on cast.
