Treacherous Blessing

Three cards up front is a rate black almost never gets to pay outright: card advantage in this color usually comes wrapped in a life payment, a discard, or a delay. The design's answer is to hand you the draw immediately and stack the cost behind it, and the second clause is the clever part. The per-spell life loss turns the enchantment from a one-time refill into a slow bleed that scales with how hard you push, so a durdling control shell barely feels it while a low-curve aggressive deck taxes itself with every cantrip. What makes it genuinely tricky, though, is the sacrifice trigger. Because it dies the instant anything targets it, the usual disenchant answer works backwards: you want to target your own Blessing to shed the ongoing tax once the cards are spent. That folds the third ability into a built-in escape hatch and rewards decks packing their own targeted effects, most naturally a spot-removal spell or a redirect aimed at your own permanent. The wrinkle is that a plain damage pinger cannot do the job (it can only point at creatures, planeswalkers, battles, or players, not a noncreature enchantment), so the exit has to come from an effect that can actually name a permanent. The result reads like a Faustian bargain but plays like a puzzle with a known solution: draw the three, ride the bleed while you deploy, then break the contract on your own terms rather than the opponent's.
