Timetwister

The symmetry is the joke. It looks fair on the page (everyone shuffles back, everyone draws seven) and is anything but in practice, because the caster picks the moment. Where Ancestral Recall buys three cards and Time Walk buys a turn, this buys an entire fresh game state: both players reset to seven, but the player casting it has spent their hand reaching this point and is refilling on their own terms, often with mana floating, often with the opponent's answers shuffled away. That asymmetry-disguised-as-symmetry is the design lineage that runs through Wheel of Fortune, Windfall, and Time Spiral: each one a variation on the question of who actually benefits from a shared refill, and each one priced more carefully than this. Three mana for the effect, with the graveyard folded back into the library as a bonus clause, is a rate the game has spent thirty years declining to revisit at face value. One of the original Power Nine, restricted in Vintage since the format had a restricted list, banned everywhere else it could be banned, and reserved-listed into permanent scarcity, it survives mostly as a historical artifact and a benchmark: the rate against which every future symmetric-draw spell has been measured and deliberately undercut.
