The Wanderer
A planeswalker with no plus ability and no ultimate is a rare shape, and the cost of that design is written into the loyalty. Starting at five with only a minus that spends two per activation, the clock is short: two exiles and then one loyalty left, with no way to climb back. What buys the compression is the static line, which is genuinely unusual for the type. Most planeswalkers protect themselves by making a body or shrinking the board; this one turns off an entire category of interaction. Every burn spell, every ping, every noncombat source still resolves, but the damage it would deal to you or to your other permanents is prevented outright. The line to read carefully is what the shield does not cover: The Wanderer itself. A noncombat burn spell aimed at loyalty still gets there, so the static protects the game state around the walker rather than the walker's own life clock. That is the point of the short loyalty: it is a defensive object built to be spent quickly, not a permanent fixture to be ground down over turns. The exile clause is the closer, and the power-4-or-greater floor is the leash that keeps it aimed correctly: it answers the fatties and the tokens grown huge, not the aggressive one-drops that combat is meant to handle. Static-first planeswalkers turn up rarely, and few of them commit to the shape this cleanly.
