The second line is the pivot. Casting it is not just a removal decision, it is a decision to accept the Ring's temptation, marching your Ring-bearer another step down the four-level ladder past the evasion and looting clauses toward the ones that force opponents to sacrifice creatures and bleed life. That reframes the card: a modest edge-shave becomes an engine trigger, a cheap way to advance the Ring on a turn when you also happen to be shrinking the enemy's line. The design deliberately puts the temptation on a sorcery whose base effect is under-powered, so the Ring line is not a bonus stapled to a bomb but part of why the card earns its slot at all.
