Politics is the medium most multiplayer commanders manipulate; this one abolishes it. The middle line rewrites the terms of every table it sits at: no more sitting back, no more truces, no more waiting for someone else to swing first. Everyone attacks, every combat, or they can't pass go. What makes that mandate more than chaos for its own sake is the counter clause: because the forced-attack rule funnels aggression toward whoever is being swung at, and because the Spider punishes attacks aimed at its own controller, the design creates a feedback loop where the more the table is compelled to attack you, the larger the wall you have to answer for. Reach and vigilance are the structural supports that make the loop survivable: a 5/5 that blocks fliers, grows with every incoming attacker, and stays untapped to keep swinging turns the drawback into a threat assessment problem your opponents have to solve while their own creatures are locked into combat they didn't want. It is a rare commander built to make the game worse for everyone at the table, including you, on the wager that you are better positioned to absorb the fallout. The forced-attack effect has appeared before in cards like Grand Melee, but pinning it to a growing, evasion-blocking body that specifically taxes aggression against its owner is the wrinkle that turns a symmetrical group-slug button into a genuine commander.
