Tainted Wood
The painlands charged a point of life for colored mana; this cycle replaced that toll with a conditional check instead. It taps for colorless freely, but the black and green only come online while you control a Swamp. The asymmetry is deliberate. Black is the anchor color and reliably costs you nothing, since a Swamp in play is the normal state of any deck wanting this land; green is the splash riding on black's back. That makes the card less a true dual than a black source with a green rider attached, which fits exactly how Golgari decks tend to be built: black-heavy, with green as the secondary commitment. The colorless fallback is the safety valve, ensuring the land never reads as a dead draw even in the rare opening where no Swamp has arrived yet. It is a clean answer to the perennial fixing question of how to reward committing to a base color without punishing the player for drawing the land early, and the typed-permanent condition does that work without touching your life total, a quietly generous trade in a set whose name and tone otherwise promised the opposite.
