Sydri, Galvanic Genius
Two abilities that do nothing alone; together they convert an Esper artifact pile's chrome into a board of finishers. The first sets a noncreature artifact's power and toughness equal to its mana value, which is the constraint that shapes the whole deck: a Sol Ring becomes a 1/1, a Mind Stone a 2/2, but the expensive rocks and equipment animate into bodies large enough to matter. Anything that costs nothing simply falls over as a 0/0, so the build wants top-end artifacts worth attacking with, not a pile of cheap dorks. The second ability is where the math turns lethal. Hand an animated artifact deathtouch and lifelink and every block becomes a trade that favors you, every connection a swing in the life totals; a deathtouch creature does not need to be big to threaten a combat, only to be unblockable-without-loss. Stack both on a single high-mana-value artifact and you have a one-shot drain that an opponent has to chump or eat. The deckbuilding puzzle she poses is the inversion of how artifact decks usually assemble: instead of running creatures supported by mana rocks, she asks you to run rocks and engine pieces that double as the creatures, weaponizing the inert manabase a control-leaning Esper shell would already field. The 2/2 body is incidental; the commander's job is to make the artifacts that were never meant to attack carry the game.
