The white board wipe has always paid for its symmetry somehow: Wrath of God is clean but leaves both players empty-handed, Day of Judgment does the same at the same price, Terminus asks you to reorder your library and time the miracle. This one settles the account differently. Exile sidesteps the death triggers and graveyard recursion that a destroy-based sweeper feeds, then refunds the caster for the size of the board it just cleared. The Incubator token scales directly to how far behind you were: the more creatures you exile, the fatter the counter pile you flip up later. That inverts the usual math of a five-mana wrath, where the player who overcommitted loses the most and the sweeper's owner rebuilds from zero. Here the sweep leaves you with a win condition in waiting. The catch is the two-part cost of that payoff: the token sits as a 0/0-in-waiting until you spend the mana to transform it, so the reward is deferred and telegraphed, not immediate. That transform tax keeps the exile-plus-refund package from being strictly better than the older wraths; you trade tempo now for a body later, and you must find the extra mana to flip the Incubator before it becomes a threat. Exile-based mass removal at this rate is the design lineage; the Incubator rider is what makes it a rebuild tool rather than a reset button.
