Starfall Invocation
Board wipes have always been the equalizer of the player who is behind: cast the sweeper, reset the board, and both sides start from an empty battlefield. The Gift clause breaks that symmetry. Promise a card to your opponent and the destruction stops being clean; it reaches into the pile of creatures it just killed and returns the best of your own to the battlefield under your control. You walk out of the reset with a body and the tempo lead, and the only cost is a single card drawn across the table. Decline the promise and it resolves as an unadorned five-mana Wrath of God, no strings and no reward. The optionality is the whole engine: every cast becomes a live valuation of a card in your opponent's hand against a creature back on your side, and the correct answer moves depending on which creature is dying and how far ahead the draw pushes them. Reanimator sweepers of the past ran the recursion as a separate step: a stocked graveyard, a second spell, a setup turn. Here the salvage is fused into the destruction itself, and the choice is drawn only from the creatures this cast killed. You are not looting a pre-built yard; you are picking one survivor out of the wreckage you just made, which makes sequencing and what you wipe part of the same decision.
