Spawning Kraken

Creature — Kraken5 generic manaBlue mana

A payoff that only pays off if you commit to the sea. The trigger reaches across four of the game's biggest creature types (Kraken, Leviathan, Octopus, Serpent), and every one that connects with a player mints a 9/9, which then becomes another Kraken capable of triggering it again next turn. That escalation is the whole design idea: the first hit is the hardest to land, because the fatties this card wants to reward tend to be slow, evasion-hungry, and easy to chump. Give one of them an unblocked swing, though, and the board compounds geometrically, since each token is itself a valid trigger source. The gating is subtle. It rewards combat damage specifically, not casting or entering, which pushes you toward a tribe that can actually punch through rather than a pile of enormous bodies frozen in a stalemate. What holds it back is that it produces nothing until one of your sea monsters connects, and nothing at all if your leviathans get walled, which is the same failure state most big-creature strategies already carry. As a tribal capstone for a corner of the game that had long lacked one (the serpents-and-sea-monsters archetype was mechanically defined but starved for engines), it turns a collection of oversized singletons into a repeatable production line.
