Snapping Drake
Three power in the air for four mana, stapled to a body so thin it trades down to almost any burn spell: that asymmetry is the entire design brief. The high clock closes games fast once you have an opening, but two toughness means the creature dies to combat against bigger flyers and never lingers as a defensive wall. It rewards the tempo player who wants to start applying pressure before the opponent stabilizes, not the grinder who wants a creature to hold ground. Built for a beginner-facing product line, it carries no abilities to track and no activated decisions to misplay, which is exactly why it became a yardstick. Later blue flyers got priced against it: anything cheaper for the same stats needed a drawback to compensate, while a bigger body or an extra keyword at the same cost read as a clean upgrade. The vanilla-ish blue flyer at a legible rate is one of design's most durable reference points, and the value here is precisely that legibility. Nothing clever is happening on the card; the worth is in how readable the math is, and in how many flyers have been measured against it.
