Goad is red's chaos toy, a compulsion that forces creatures to attack and profits from the wreckage. This one reads the mechanic from the opposite direction: it counts the goaded creatures on your own side, not your opponents'. That distinction is the whole card. When someone at the table has goaded your creatures (dragging them into combat they never wanted), the beginning-of-combat trigger banks a Clue for each goaded body and then strips the goad away, releasing your board from the forced-attack sentence. It converts an opponent's coercion into card advantage and a clean reset in the same beat. This is defensive design wearing an aggressive mechanic's clothes: rather than punish you for being goaded, it pays you to have been goaded and then undoes the effect entirely. The 2/2 body and the Clue on entry are modest baseline value; the real function is as an answer to any deck built to weaponize goad against you, the kind that hands out forced attacks in volume and counts on the ensuing chaos. Against that plan, this turns every coerced swing into a draw step and refuses to let the compulsion stick. It sits at the crossroads of two mechanics that rarely share a color, and the arbitrage runs backward from what the keyword usually implies: white supplies the card draw, an opponent's red-flavored goad supplies the trigger count, and the cleanup clause is the hate baked into the payoff.
