Symmetry that refuses to stay symmetrical: the engine fires on every player's upkeep, controller included, so it hands two cards around the table while bleeding everyone two life a turn. That life loss is the entire reason this is buildable. A 6/5 body for five mana is already a clock, and the tax the demon imposes converts those free cards into a debt its beats are racing to collect on. The trick is splitting the deal unevenly: the draws go around equally, but life totals do not, and any deck that can ignore its own upkeep cost (lifegain, life-as-resource payoffs, or simply ending the game before the gifted cards matter) keeps the half it wants and eats the rest. This is the black tradition of weaponized generosity, the group-draw effect that wins the resource war by appearing to lose it, because whoever arranged the trade decides what the extra cards and the missing life are worth. Left unattended it kills its controller as readily as anyone else, two life at a time, which is the constraint that defines who can run it: only a strategy that has already answered the question of who runs out of time first can afford to deal its opponents two cards a turn and treat its own upkeep loss as someone else's problem.
