Seafloor Oracle

Creature — Merfolk Wizard2 generic manaBlue manaBlue mana

Merfolk decks have always had a card-advantage problem: a tribe built on small, evasive bodies tends to run out of gas the moment the board stalls. The fix wires the draw engine directly to combat, so that every Merfolk getting through (not just this one) cashes out into a card. That design choice does real work, because it rewards the exact thing the tribe already wants to do (go wide with cheap unblockable threats) rather than asking for a separate engine. The trigger is combat damage to a player, so chump-blocked attackers and pinged-down tokens draw nothing; the payoff scales with how much the rest of the board connects, not with how big any one creature is. That makes it a multiplier rather than a standalone value piece: one unblocked Merfolk is a cantrip, three or four is a refuel. The 2/3 body is deliberately unremarkable, big enough to trade with the aggressive creatures that trouble a go-wide plan and clog the ground while the smaller, slipperier bodies do the actual work of triggering it. In a vacuum it does almost nothing, then tilts the whole game once a tribal board is established, which is precisely the trade a tribe of fragile attackers needs to stay relevant deep into a game.
