Sandsteppe Citadel
The wedge taxes you a turn for fixing three colors instead of two, and that turn is the whole bargain. Three-color decks have always needed more sources than the math of dual lands cleanly provides, so the triland answers the count problem directly: one slot covers a wedge's entire color identity, which is structurally cheaper than two duals doing the same job. The cost is paid up front and only once. Entering tapped is dead tempo on the turn you play it, which is why these reward being dropped early, into an opening hand, when the lost tempo overlaps with a turn you weren't going to spend mana anyway. Drop it on turn four and you feel every wasted untap; lead with it and the tax disappears into a slow start you were taking regardless. The enters-tapped triland template first showed up when a set's color structure organized itself around three-color shards, and it has reappeared whenever a block leans on wedges or shards as its deckbuilding spine. This one serves the white-black-green wedge specifically, the axis of attrition and grind, where the plan is built to absorb a tapped land more comfortably than a tempo-driven two-color build ever could. It is fixing that knows its tempo is a liability and asks to be sequenced around it rather than ignored.
