Raised by Giants
Most Backgrounds hand out a keyword or a quiet value engine that folds into whatever the primary partner is already doing. This one rewrites your commander's body from the ground up. Setting base power and toughness to a flat 10/10 flattens every commander-damage calculation into the same shape: three connections lethal at any table, regardless of what the creature natively was. A one-power evasive utility legend becomes a three-hit clock; a mana-dork commander becomes a beater. The Giant type-grant is the flavor payoff, but the load-bearing text is the base-stat override, and the crucial detail is where it lands in the layer stack: because it sets a base value, any +1/+1 counters or Auras you pile on top apply after it, so a couple of buffs turn that three-swing clock into a two-swing one, and the enhancements compound rather than compete. What keeps this from being pure power is the same clause that defines it: it only touches commanders you own. Nothing for the rest of the board, nothing for a token army, nothing for the ninety-nine. The six mana buys a single enormous threat and a body large enough that anything you stack on top finishes the job fast.
