Praetor's Grasp

Sorcery1 generic manaBlack manaBlack mana

What separates this from a generic discard or tutor is the verb pointing at the wrong library: instead of digging through your own deck, you reach into an opponent's, read it end to end, and lift the single card you most want them not to have. The exile clause does the heavy lifting. The card you pull is not destroyed but pocketed, playable by you for as long as it stays exiled, and exiled face down, so the player you robbed does not even know which piece is missing. A targeted disruption spell becomes disruption with a refund: you spend three mana not just to subtract a threat from across the table but to bolt it onto your own game plan. That is two functions fused in a way most disruption keeps separate, which is why it ages so well in singleton formats where every opponent's deck holds exactly one copy of its best card. The cost is paid in tempo and information asymmetry: you have spent a full turn and learned the contents of a deck rather than developing your own, and the targeted player shuffles afterward, so the rest of what you saw is scrambled out of reach. It rewards knowing precisely which card is the keystone of the deck you are pointing at, because you only get one, and a misread leaves you holding a sideways prize instead of a stolen win condition.

Search target opponent's library for a card and exile it face down. Then that player shuffles. You may play that card for as long as it remains exiled.
