Dethrone and proliferate rarely share a card, and the pairing is more coherent than it looks. Dethrone gives the creature a reason to swing at the wrong player: attack whoever has the most life and it grows itself, no combat damage required. Proliferate then compounds every counter already on the battlefield the moment it connects or dies, so the trigger that punishes the table's leader also feeds every other creature, planeswalker, and Sagas you have parked. The evasion clause is the connective tissue: it can't be blocked by creatures with power 2 or less, which keeps a 2/2 body relevant into the midgame precisely when boards clog with small chump blockers. That improved connection is what turns the dethrone-into-proliferate loop from theoretical to reliable, and the dies trigger means even a losing combat still advances the counter economy. The design puts three counter-adjacent mechanics on one small green creature and lets them daisy-chain: dethrone plants a counter, evasion secures the hit, proliferate multiplies the whole board's worth of counters, and the death clause helps the payoff fire when a swing gets stopped. It is a proliferate engine dressed as an aggressive attacker, built for a deck already invested in counting counters rather than as a standalone threat.
