Panic Attack

Sorcery-speed evasion has always been the awkward middle child of red's combat toolkit, and this is the genre at its most literal: three creatures kept home for a turn, no damage attached, no permanent change to the board. The design is built entirely around the alpha-strike math. A red aggressive deck stalled against a wall of blockers wants to convert a wide board into a single decisive turn, and clearing up to three potential blockers does exactly that without spending a removal spell or losing a creature in combat. The catch is the sorcery timing, which forces you to commit during your own main phase before attacks, so the swing is telegraphed and the spell gives nothing back when the opponent simply lacks the blockers you feared. Note that the constraint here is structural, not merely a matter of speed: even an instant-speed "can't block" effect would have to resolve before the Declare Blockers step, since telling an already-declared blocker it can't block does not pull it out of combat. The window for this kind of effect is fixed at "before blocks," sorcery or not; what red gives up by printing it at sorcery speed is the ability to bluff and react, not some impossible after-the-fact removal of a blocker. What remains is preemptive board math, the clean undersized "go to the face" enabler red has revisited many times under different costs and counts: a finisher's accessory, useful only in a deck wide enough to want the turn it can end the game.
