Tap for white and black on demand, replay a land drop, fix your colors perfectly: the catch is that you do it on a delay. The land enters tapped and immediately hands one of your lands back, so the turn it shows up you are flat on land count with a source that cannot pay for anything yet. The ledger only swings in your favor once you replay the bounced land, and that replay is the whole point. A hand thin on lands gets its next drop guaranteed; a screwed draw stays functional because the bounce keeps feeding you something to play. You pay for that smoothing in time, and you pay double if the returned land also enters tapped, since it taps out a second time on its way back. The returned land is not dead value either: it is a fresh trigger for anything that wants a land replayed from hand, a fetchland you would rather hold than crack, or a landfall engine squeezing a second enters-the-battlefield event out of one card. The white-black pairing is the natural home for this kind of land because attrition and grind decks are the ones least bothered by an early stumble; they are not racing, and a reliable dual source on turn five is worth a slow turn one. This is fixing that charges you in the one resource a deck built to go long can afford to spend.
