Ominous Cemetery

Land

A colorless land that untaps into removal is one of the quieter engines in the game, and this one leans hard into the tempo tax that makes such lands fair. The activated ability is expensive by design: five mana plus the tap, all sunk into a single-target shuffle that generates no card advantage and destroys nothing. What it buys is permanence-independent interaction that no counterspell can strand and no color requirement can gatekeep, coming from a slot that otherwise just makes colorless. The shuffle-into-library mode is the tell. Unlike a bounce, it strips a token or a graveyard-recursion target out of the game entirely; unlike destruction, it slides under indestructible and dodges death triggers, since the creature never dies, it simply leaves. The trade is that it is a one-shot: exiling the land pays for its own removal, so the answer and the source of the answer vanish together. That single-use clause is what keeps a repeatable-looking effect honest, and it locates the card firmly in the tradition of utility lands that offer real interaction only in exchange for a card slot, a mana investment, and a permanent that is meant to be spent rather than kept.
