My Precious // Allure of Power

Legendary Artifact — Equipment // Instant — Adventure3 generic mana1 generic manaBlack mana

The genius of this design is how the two halves answer to the same fiction from opposite directions. The Adventure, Allure of Power, is a black card-draw spell that eats one of your own creatures: the ring's corrupting pull, cast as an instant, trading a body for two cards before the artifact ever hits the battlefield. Then the Equipment waits in exile for later, and when it comes down it makes the equipped creature both hexproof and unblockable, the invisibility and unassailability the ring grants the bearer. What ties the mechanics together is that the equip cost is paid in life, not just mana: putting on the ring costs you something every time, which is exactly the point of the flavor. Adventure has always been a template for making a permanent do two jobs across two turns, but most Adventures pair a creature body with a cheap spell. Bolting an Equipment onto the front end is the less-traveled branch of that design space, because the payoff card is not a threat itself but an enhancer that needs a creature to matter. That creates a small tension worth noting: the spell half asks you to sacrifice a creature, and the Equipment half needs a creature to equip. The card wants you to have bodies to spare on both ends, which quietly points it at go-wide and aristocrats shells rather than a lone commander looking for evasion.
