How this card plays

Legal in Pioneer this season, but yet to register in tracked tournament play, and the structural reasons are easy to read off the format map. A 1/3 with reach that taps for one mana on the turn it lands is Llanowar-rate fixing in a body that does not advance the green ramp plan the way the format's actual mana dorks do. Mono-Green Devotion wants Elvish Mystic and Llanowar Elves on turn one, not a three-mana dork that needs investment before it outpaces them, and the deck's devotion math and Karn, the Great Creator end-game do not care about scalable any-color output.

The any-color tap and the power-scaling are the parts that ask for a home, and the home is the problem. A deck built to pump a single creature and cash the power into mana is a combo shell, and Pioneer does not have a green pump-into-mana archetype in its current map. The decks that grow creatures, Boros Heroic and the various aggro builds, are not in the market for a mana engine, and the ramp decks that want mana are not in the market for a counters payoff.

There is no slot competition to name because there is no slot. The card needs an archetype that the format does not run, and nothing in the current Pioneer metagame is leaning toward building one.
