Moment's Peace

Instant1 generic manaGreen mana

Buying a single Fog turn is the cheap part; buying two off one card is where this earns its keep. The flashback clause means an attacking opponent has to commit through one cancelled combat step, then plan around a second one waiting in the graveyard, and the math on a race shifts hard when the defender can erase the damage twice: 1 generic manaGreen mana now, 2 generic manaGreen mana later. That doubling is the whole point. One Fog stalls a turn; two from the same card stall an alpha strike and then the cleanup swing behind it. The effect touches nothing on the board, generates no card advantage in the conventional sense, and reads as pure tempo denial, which is exactly why control and combo shells reach for it. The job is to buy turns for a plan that does not involve blocking: assemble a combo, untap into a sweeper, draw into the answer. This is one of the purest demonstrations of what flashback does to an effect that was never built to be repeatable; a Fog you can cast from the yard is not a slightly better Fog, it is a different card with a different deckbuilding cost. Every green prevention spell printed since has had to answer the question of why it is not this one.
