Maddening Hex

A Curse that sits on one player is a bribe, a grudge, or a dead card the moment that player stops mattering, which is why most enchant-a-single-opponent designs go stale by the mid-game. The random reattachment clause is what keeps this one live. Every noncreature spell the cursed player casts pings them for a die roll, then flings the whole enchantment to a new opponent chosen at random, so the Curse never becomes yours-to-manage and never settles into a stalemate. That built-in shuffle is the mechanical heart: the threat migrates on its own, needing no upkeep, no attention, and no diplomacy from its controller after resolution. The damage is deliberately swingy. A d6 means a spell might cost one life or six, and the variance is doing intended work, since it punishes the play patterns that cast the most noncreature spells (spellslingers, storm shells, reactive control) precisely because they generate the most rolls. It taxes a habit rather than a person, and it does so obliquely: the Curse never picks its victims, it just charges rent on the act of casting and rotates the toll through a table so no single opponent can plan around it for long. Red rarely gets to interact with the stack this way; here it does, letting chance decide both the size of the toll and who pays it next.
