The mechanic checks its condition at your end step rather than firing on each arrival, and that delayed count is what shapes how you build around it. A per-entry trigger would reward emptying your hand of tokens in one explosive turn; the end-step tally instead rewards a board that keeps deploying permanents at a steady cadence, and it forgives sequencing entirely, since a costly body and a cheap trinket feed the same check regardless of order. The lands-excluded clause is the balancing weight: two fetch-and-tap lands accomplish nothing here, so the reward is pinned to actual board growth rather than incidental land drops. The design deliberately keeps the payoff small (a single card, conditional, at the slowest possible window), which stops it from spiraling the way a repeatable engine would. That restraint is the whole idea. It taxes a habit rather than an archetype: you never have to commit to sacrifice fodder, token generation, or any one permanent type, only to the general project of putting bodies and artifacts and enchantments onto the field faster than one per turn. Meanwhile the 4/5 flier does honest work in the air, pressuring life totals and holding the skies while it counts. It rewards tempo without demanding a combo.
