Kwende, Pride of Femeref
First strike has always read as the budget keyword: it wins the fight but adds no damage, a deterrent rather than a payoff. This Knight collapses that gap by stapling double strike onto every first striker you control, turning a board of cheap deterrents into a team that deals its damage twice. The static ability is the draw, not the body, which is a plain 2/2 carrying double strike of its own and nothing else. White and red both field deep benches of first strike: the keyword has appeared on commons and uncommons throughout the game's history, so the supporting cast already exists in bulk and was never priced with this multiplier in mind. What keeps the ability honest is its conditionality, unusual for an anthem: it touches nothing without first strike, so it rewards a board assembled ahead of time rather than buffing whatever happens to be in play. That narrowness is also its discipline; an unconditional double-strike anthem would be absurd, but gated behind a keyword you have to bring yourself, it stays a build-around. Strip first strike from your creatures and the ability lies dormant; commit to the keyword as a theme and a modest 2/2 doubles the clock on everyone it touches.
