Konda's Hatamoto

The conditional is the whole design here: a 1/2 with Bushido 1 that becomes a 2/4 with vigilance as long as you control a legendary Samurai. This is a follower, not a leader. The baseline body is deliberately undersized so the upgrade reads as a reward rather than a default, and the legend it watches for points straight at the daimyo whose name the card carries, Konda, Lord of Eiganjo. The buff is a static ability, not a trigger: it turns on the instant the legendary Samurai resolves and switches off the instant it leaves, so the card's whole posture flickers with the state of the board rather than locking in once. That distinction matters for the vigilance grant, because Bushido only pays out in combat, and a vigilant attacker can swing and still be home to block, doubling the windows where the +1/+1 fires. The retainer flavor is encoded mechanically rather than stated: a hatamoto is a banner-guard sworn to a lord, and this is a modest two-drop until that lord arrives. It sits in the long line of designs that key off a specific creature type plus the legendary supertype, trading raw rate for payoff inside a focused tribal shell, and it punishes nothing if you decline the plan: pull the lord and it simply reverts to its small honest self.
