Convoke is usually a discount mechanic: tap creatures, pay less, move on. This design inverts the incentive by paying you to keep casting convoke spells rather than banking the savings on one big turn. Every convoke spell after the first digs two deep with a scry and refills your hand, turning a mechanic built for tempo into an engine that feeds itself. The friction is that convoke has historically lived almost entirely in white and green, so a Jeskai body asks you to lean on the color where the trigger is most abundant while stapling it to red and blue for the rest. A 5/4 with flying, vigilance, and haste wants to be swinging as soon as it resolves, and convoke on its own cost means a wide board can deploy it early without stranding your mana. That last detail is the quiet cleverness: the creatures you tap to cast it are the same creatures that later fuel the convoke spells it rewards, so the board state that gets it down cheaply is the board state that keeps the card advantage flowing. It is a payoff for a mechanic that never really had one, asking you to treat convoke not as a one-time toll skip but as a repeatable draw step.
