Vanilla creatures are the game's oldest joke, the baseline against which every keyword and triggered ability gets priced. This is a lord for them. The mana ability builds a dedicated pool that pays only for creature spells with no abilities, and the evasion clause turns those blank bodies into a strike force: a 2/2 Grizzly Bears with nothing on its text box slips past any blocker carrying a keyword, because "creatures with abilities" is exactly the set of defenders most boards are made of. The catch is that other vanilla creatures can still stand in the way, so the evasion is directional rather than absolute; it punishes the ability-dense board a normal deck presents, not a mirror stocked with the same blanks. The design inverts the usual power gradient. In most decks a vanilla creature is filler, the card you play when the ability creatures are gone; here it is the payload, and the ability creatures elsewhere on the battlefield are liabilities that cannot interpose. That constraint is also the tax that keeps the engine honest: the ramp is worthless outside its own narrow archetype, so the card commits you to a deck built almost entirely from bears, walls with no text, and beaters that read as afterthoughts anywhere else. It is a leader built to reward a deckbuilding restriction most players spend their careers trying to avoid, and the payoff only lands if you take the restriction seriously.
