Planeswalkers have always chafed against the legend rule: two copies of the same one cannot share the battlefield, so a second in hand is often dead weight. The kicker clause here confronts that structural drawback head-on by manufacturing a non-legendary duplicate on resolution, so a single card can put two Jaces down at once. The one-loyalty starting point on the token is the tax that keeps the doubling honest: the copy is fragile, likely to spend its first turn scrying up rather than defending itself, and easy to remove before it earns anything. The two abilities split cleanly between patience and greed. The +1 is pure card selection that quietly builds a survivable loyalty cushion. The zero is a gamble dressed as an activation: it draws a card face-up, then charges loyalty equal to that card's mana value, so a cheap hit is nearly free while an expensive one can gut the walker or outright kill the fragile token. That self-limiting cost ties the size of the reward to the risk you accept, and it makes the token version genuinely disposable: a one-loyalty copy can only cash in a zero-cost draw before it dies to its own greed. What sets this design apart is the inversion at its heart: it takes the class's most awkward constraint (that you can never run two of a kind side by side) and rebuilds it into the card's central mechanic.
