Hulking Bugbear

Creature — Goblin1 generic manaRed manaRed mana

Three power for three mana, all of it live the turn it lands. This is the vanilla-plus template that red commons and low-rarity aggro pieces have circled for decades: no evasion, no combat trick, no downside clause, just a beater that can swing the moment it resolves. Haste is the entire value proposition, and on a body this size it does exactly the job haste exists for: it collapses the gap between deploying a threat and applying pressure, so the 3/3 is threatening damage a turn earlier than a creature that has to sit out summoning sickness. What it does with that turn depends on the board (a chump blocker or a bigger body can still eat the swing), but the point is tempo, not certainty. The trade the design makes is that the card asks for nothing back. There is no scaling, no keyword to build around, nothing to reward the deckbuilder past the fact that it comes down attacking. That is the honest work of a card like this: it keeps the curve moving in a beatdown deck that would rather add another point of clock than another line of text. Set against red's long history of aggressive three-drops, it is close to the plainest expression of the archetype's core math, which is why it does its work where the math is all that matters and vanishes everywhere else.
