Hawkeye, Clint Barton

Legendary Creature — Human Archer Hero3 generic manaWhite mana

The tension in this design is right there in the mismatch between the 3/5 frame and the vigilance keyword: a body that reads like a wall wearing a keyword meant for attackers. Toughness five keeps the archer upright through most combat trades and a lot of incidental burn, and vigilance means the wall never has to choose between offense and defense. It fires into the red zone and stays back to cover the same turn, which is exactly how you would want a marksman's card to play if the flavor is suppressing fire rather than a single decisive shot. That reconciliation is the whole point: a four-drop that is durable enough to matter over several turns and cheap enough to land without overcommitting, the sturdy midrange body that survives most trades. The top-down framing does the identity work that the mechanics deliberately leave alone. Human Archer Hero on the type line is where the character lives; the vigilant 3/5 underneath it is intentionally understated, a supporting piece rather than a finisher. It asks nothing of the cards around it and gives back a creature that is hard to remove in combat, which is the role a resilient vigilant body has always filled: the anchor, not the reason the game ends.
