Happy Hogan, Dauntless Driver

Legendary Creature — Human PilotRed mana

The Pilot type has always been infrastructure: a creature whose whole reason for existence is to crew a Vehicle and then get out of the way. So a Pilot legend printed with nothing but a body and a type line is a genuinely odd object, because it inverts the usual relationship. Here the driver is the legend, the color-identity anchor, and the deck's cheapest way to keep a Vehicle moving, and it asks for nothing back. The 2/1 for a single red sits in the fragile-aggressor bracket, where trading down or eating a removal spell is a real cost, and as a vanilla creature it has no haste, so the turn it lands it can crew but not attack. That points the build toward Vehicles that dodge sorcery-speed sweepers by staying noncreatures until crewed: the pieces worth protecting are already harder to kill than creatures, and a cheap driver keeps the crew active without demanding much to redeploy after it dies. The competing impulse is baked in. A red one-drop wants to swing early; a Pilot wants a board of Vehicles waiting behind it, and those two plans want the same first turns. The card supplies the license and the identity, and hands every payoff to whatever surrounds it.
