The Food payoff itself is modest lifegain, so the token functions less as a resource than as a proof-of-work marker that green sacrifice and Food-matters shells can convert into something larger. Doctor's companion completes the design brief: a two-mana green body deliberately undersized for a standalone leader, built to sit beside a Doctor and lean on that partner's spell-recursion to keep the Paradox trigger live. The pairing carries the whole idea. On its own the 2/2 offers a trickle; wired to a commander that reanimates instants and sorceries from the yard, it becomes an engine that pays you every time you replay a spell from outside your hand. This is a support piece dressed as a legend, engineered to make an alternate-zone casting strategy hum rather than to headline one.
