Goblin Chariot

Creature — Goblin Warrior2 generic manaRed mana

Vanilla-plus filler from the era when haste alone was enough to justify a common's existence. The body costs 2 generic manaRed mana and swings the turn it lands, a rate that had already fallen behind by the early 2000s: Jackal Pup and a long line of cheaper Goblins offered more aggression per point of mana, and the Goblin Warrior typing landed in a stretch where the tribe's best payoffs cared about board count and lord effects, not a midcurve creature whose only text is a single keyword. This is the floor of Goblin design: a creature whose entire argument is that it does not sit idle for a turn before attacking, printed to round out the red common slot and give a beginner-facing core set a clean, unadorned example of what haste does. The design states one thing plainly and leans on nothing else. That clarity is also the ceiling: no second mode, no late-game relevance, no synergy hook beyond sharing a creature type with cards that actually reward the tribe. Built to teach what haste means rather than to carry a game on the strength of it.
