Glimpse of Nature

The engine that defined Elf combo. It draws nothing the moment you resolve it; the trigger fires per creature spell cast afterward, and because the spell cost you a card, the first creature you cast only replaces Glimpse itself. Every creature after that is profit. That break-even-then-explode math is what turns a board of one-mana mana-Elves into a chain reaction: each Llanowar-style dork or Heritage Druid taps for the mana that casts the next Elf, which draws the card that shows you the next Elf, and the loop ends only when you choose to stop or run dry. The card asks nothing of your creatures except that you keep playing them, which is why it pairs so naturally with free or near-free bodies and mana producers that refund their own cost. Its lineage runs straight through Beck // Call, the later split-card revision that prints the same per-creature draw with a kicker half attached, an acknowledgment that the original effect was strong enough to warrant a second, costlier printing rather than a reprint of the one-mana version. What balances it is that the trigger lasts only the turn you cast it: resolve Glimpse with an empty hand and no Elves left to deploy, and you have spent your turn on a sorcery that does nothing before the cleanup step erases it. The whole payoff lives inside a single turn's worth of creatures, which rewards a deck built to flood the board cheaply in one explosive sequence, not one splashing the effect for incidental value.
