For Mirrodin! solves the oldest problem with Equipment: you cannot equip nothing, and drawing your removal-bait gear while your board sits empty is a dead card. This one arrives already attached to its own 2/2 Rebel, so it enters as a functional creature rather than a piece of equipment waiting for a host. That framing is what makes the card-draw trigger reasonable to price at two mana. The condition is gentle: the equipped creature and at least one other attacker, so a single extra body turns every combat into a card. It rewards going wide without demanding it, and because the trigger keys off attacking rather than dealing damage, chump-blocked and unblocked swings both pay out. The equip cost carries real weight here, too. If the original Rebel dies, the lens reverts to a normal Equipment, and moving the draw engine onto a more durable or more evasive creature costs an honest turn's worth of mana rather than being a formality. It sits in the white-weenie tradition of small, sticky value engines (the color that has always paid you for committing bodies to the board), but slots the payoff into the artifact type line so it survives creature sweepers the way a creature-based draw engine would not.
