Gimli of the Glittering Caves

A legend that arrives sized like a token is the joke and the design brief at once: it comes down doing nothing, waiting on the rest of the fellowship to show up before it means anything. The growth trigger keys off other legendary creatures entering, which quietly reroutes the whole build. This is not a card that grows off its own casting or its own attacks; it grows off a board plan that leans into the legendary-creature density that superfriends and legendary-matters decks were already assembling. Each new legendary creature is a growth step, and the permanent counters turn a 1/1 into a real clock only as the shell fills out. The Treasure trigger asks for one thing: connect with a player. That is where double strike does its work, and not in the way it looks. Gimli has no trample, so a single blocker eats the attack entirely and no Treasure is made. But send him in unblocked and double strike fires the combat-damage trigger twice, minting two Treasures in one swing rather than one. Those Treasures then ramp the next legend into play, which grows the dwarf again, which makes his connect harder to stop, which mints Treasures faster. The sequencing tension is real: every Treasure is a choice between developing more legends now or holding fixing for a bigger turn. The undersized floor is the honest tax on the engine, keeping the card a scaling reward rather than a standalone threat, and it asks for the kind of legend-heavy shell that has drifted toward being a deckbuilding constraint of its own.
