The once-per-turn clamp is the entire negotiation here. A death-triggered token engine that fired without a governor would spiral out of any grindy board state, so the payoff arrives with two brakes bolted on: it only cares about nontoken creatures dying, and no matter how many bodies hit the yard in a turn, you get exactly one Zombie. That single restriction reframes the card from a value avalanche into a slow, steady drip. And the token it makes carries its own expiration date. Decayed means the Zombie cannot block and sacrifices itself after it attacks, so the enchantment does not build a wall or a wide board; it feeds an aggressive clock that keeps throwing disposable attackers forward. That expiration is deliberately walled off from the engine: a token dying does nothing to retrigger the enchantment, because the trigger reads nontoken creatures only. The bodies it generates are strictly output, never fuel, which keeps the design from looping on itself. What sustains it instead is your own attrition: creatures you were trading or sacrificing anyway, each nontoken death you cause funneling into one fresh Zombie the next time a board wipe or block resolves. It rewards a deck already comfortable with sacrifice and grind rather than one hoarding a defensive line. What you get is not a snowball but a metronome, one disposable attacker per turn, priced to sit on the battlefield early and pay out across a long game.
